Gaza, Gaza…

June 3, 2009

I have known you for three weeks. The information I had before was built on second hand sources, but now I know you for real, I have seen you face to face.
Your profile, your scars, your smiles and even laughter. Remember your value, that you are loved, so loved, despite all excperiances. Do not let the history crate the future. I wish your children to play and live in peace, the peace that concists of juctice, mercy, truth and forgiveness.
God be with You.

Today I had a different interview. I met this man that has been attacked 4 or 5 times, but luckely he has survived each time.
To get to the meeting place we had to take a taxi to an unkknown place. Once there our bags were looked through. We had to stay inside the building and could not go outside to get some air, since nobody should know that we were there. All the building was watched by cameras. The man himself was very polite and interesting. I wish him the best and a long life!

The joy in Gaza

Today I interviewed two wonderful women here in Gaza. They work in a big association where unemployed women get possibilites to try different works. They spred such joy and positivism! I rarely find it in Sweden.. Life here in Gaza is hard, but very very real. People are often close to each other, friendly and smily, despite all problems. Enjoy this inspiaaring girl I found in a car on the main road in Gaza city!

Meal between the meal

May 26, 2009

I have never had such amount of cocies, coffe and tea, as in Gaza. In every interview I am served at least two cups of coffe, one coca cola, and one tea, in addition to number of delicious cocies. Doing interviewes are good here in Gaza!

At the same time 250.000 people live in Jabalja refugee camp. Many without a job, without any sort of social ensuriance, since all the insurances is connected to the workplace. People are poor here but thanks to UNERWAs free health treatment and other supporting groups from around the world contribute with food- people survive.

Meal between the meals is not for everybody. It is only for they how have a job.

Even in hard times love goes on..
People get married and get children, a lot of children. Here in Gaza it is common with 8-9 children in a family. The household where I stay have 5 children and this is concidered a small family🙂
Love mariages are getting more and more common. Young people nowdays have a possibility to spend their life with somebody that they love from the start. Customary law is that the mother of a man finds him a good wife. This i still pracitced a lot, though the winds of change is blowing here in Gaza🙂
